right about now, i am probably fidgeting on the plane to sydney…very anxious to land. i spent the past week trying to schedule blog posts for the next two weeks. i am not a big “plan ahead” gal on the blog…a lot of the times i post the night before!…but i’ve lined up some fun guest posters to come stop by and share while i’m away. and as usual, i will be checking in daily and posting updates when i can. there will be giveaways and all that jazz too, so don’t you worry.

i have an enormous list of places to see, eat and shop while in sydney & melbourne (i’ve barely had time to look over it, but i plan on printing it out and reading it on the plane) thank you major for all of those! i hope i can make it to the beach, the zoo and just take in as much as i can.

talk to ya soon! -bri

(original art above by . such a fan of her work!)

ok, so let me start off by saying some of you might read this post and think i have lost my mind a little bit. but hear me out, ok?

i have always been fascinated with underwater shoots. whether that be watching planet blue like it’s my job, or admiring fashion shoots executed underwater. i’ve always had a thing for jellyfish too (remember this post!?) so i thought it would be cool to shoot this week’s style post underwater. and no, this isn’t the most “shoppable” outfit but it’s interesting to study the layers and movement of fabrics in a new environment. well, at least i thought so.

check out how sweet this gold lamé skirt looks when submerged in water. close up (above) and far away (below)…

or this yellow gauzy skirt that created an insane effect once it touched the water…

we had fun shooting for a while in an isolated pool of a downtown rooftop with an underwater film camera. which is always exciting because you never know what you are going to get. i was really pleased at the abstract result and could even picture these blown up large on the wall.

and now for the contest i never won as a child…

came with me that day and shot with his under the water. have you guys ever played around with one of those? they’re super cool!

then i decided to give myself an hour (yes, i’m a loser and time myself sometimes) to try to edit the footage in photoshop into a short little movie. you know how we teach you to all in photoshop now? (class and ) those skills are really helpful when you just want to make a short video to accompany your post! watch here:

and last but not least, the winner of the massive giveaway! taylor went out of her way and made in addition to entering our contest. our whole team just loved it. congrats , we can’t wait to send you all of your gifts and see you at blogshop!

update: i deeply apologize for my mistake here, i’m human and i made an error. i hear all of your comments and i’m doing everything i can to fix this. i announced one more free spot to blogshop on my page. thank you so much for understanding. -bri

recently took a little trip to dallas, and well, we like the way they do things down there! from our awesome space, to the gorgeous decor and delicious food, not to mention a batch of students who were stoked to learn some , this session was all aces.

alicia and adam of created these unreal floral arrangements—again, not getting married just yet but they REALLY have me thinking

the girls at sent over these bright bubble that can really punch up any outfit. how great is this turquoise over stripes?

you know we’re all about fun office accessories over here, so when we sat these by we knew they’d be perfect for marking important stuff.

these delicately-scripted stamps by are perfect for making cards and little notes, and were hand-illustrated! the poloroid are an all-time favorite of ours and were a treat from the amazing who also gave these non-planner datebooks (for those of us who want to be more organized without being too stuffy!)

the students also got these little limited-edition  from our friends over at perfect for hanging at the office or on an inspiration wall.

many were taken on our custom notepads, which are unique to every city. kind of like a little collectible trading card, but full of ideas!

how can we not have something gold in here, right? these sweet gold-foiled thank you cards by will be available soon on her online shop, and are a great way to give a (beautiful) shout-out to someone who helped you out. and just check out her too!

clearly we couldn’t wait to take a bite of these adorable sugar cookies from . they are so good at making bright fun and can even make your s into custom treats!

we also included these . these little washi-taped mini-bars are handmade from .

can’t get enough of these floral arrangements!

want to be a part of the fun? we’d love to see you at one of our upcoming classes! we have a bunch of recently announced destinations, so snag your spot

were you in our dallas class? we’d love to hear from you, and encourage you to keep in touch and in the photos via our page. thank you for making this last blogshop so special! and make sure to enter the big blogshop giveaway (including a free spot to class, adobe photoshop, a wacom tablet and so much more!)

OH! and thank you for partnering up with us this time and throwing us a after class!

don’t we look like the cast of SNL here? i love it! this was our awesome chicago gang taking a photoshop learning break.

we taught at THIS awesome loft space owned by photographers . they were the most generous & spunky couple — we adore them. they were also the ones that sent me their portfolio in a view master! ()

now a little about our chicago sponsors…

1. : we have been working with the rad folks over at pinhole press for a while now. it’s always fun to get the with the new design I made for the students!

2. : these aqua + magenta were really interesting. sort of like a little beautiful sponge. (and how great are those pink legs on the stools!)

3. cutting edge stencils: those are . i would use metallic paint for a cool effect!

4. i’m a big fan. (remember this post?) the students each recieved one of these pretty porcelain

that’s me peeking over student’s shoulders like a proud teacher as they get creative and work on their own blog posts with their new skills.

5. penelope’s press: hand drawn so simple and cute.

6. : patterned . because we all like ice cream in the summer time.

7. : a dreamy that would be perfect hanging in your dressing room!

and thanks always to our friends at for your amazing giveaways!

stay tuned for more about our chicago video class up next! angela and i left chicago feeling really happy at how well it went! we weren’t sure what it would be like to teach a whole after being so used to our normal routine (and to be honest we were sort of winging it on this first one) but the students learned a ton and a lot of them even told me that video didn’t intimidate them anymore. (score!) i’m hoping to take this class all over the country as well!
