ISRAEL TRAVEL GUIDE

Israel travel guide | designlovefest

we went to israel back in august and had THE BEST TIME. i’ve been really wanting to share our favorite spots with you guys, so here we go! i was going for a work trip but was luckily able to bring justin along with me! it was only a 6 day trip which felt short but we packed a lot in! to be honest, i hadn’t really had israel at the top of my travel list, but when the opportunity came up i definitely was excited. i think those trips usually end up being some of the better ones. less build up and more surprises. and it ended up being so cool!

the food was incredible, i felt very inspired by the decor and things we saw, the bar scene was really fun, we felt safe, it felt hip and lively. i loved how people would be singing and smiling at restaurants in tel aviv with full confidence and happiness. i could see myself living in tel aviv for a while for sure!

TRAVEL PLANS

we flew into tel aviv, rented a car, drove to jerusalem for 3 days and 2 nights (which we felt was a good amount of time), drove to the dead sea, and then drove to tel aviv for 4 days and 3 nights.

we rented a car for this trip, and we were glad that we did. we wouldn’t really have needed it if we were just doing jerusalem and tel aviv. but it made it a lot easier for us to do those two the dead sea on our own timing. i don’t think i would have liked doing the dead sea in a group tour. it’s pretty easy to drive (except it’s a bit tricky when you are in jerusalem, but not too bad) so i would recommend it!

our jetlag was pretty intense. try to avoid those afternoon naps and stay on their sleep schedule. it’s pretty hard but the naps messed us up for days! also, everyone said it was too hot to go at that time of year, but it was fine. yes, hot in the afternoons but the evenings were wonderful.

above: we were staying at , we checked in and i loved the patterned rugs in the lobby! the hotel was very comfortable, stylish, accommodating and so close to the old city making the location perfect if you only have a few days there. i also heard is nice.

HOLIDAY TASTING PARTY!

hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner! i can already feel the anticipation starting to build. one of the biggest (and best!) elements of the holiday season is the food and drinks that go with all of the parties with family and friends. there is always a plethora of functions to attend and justin and i also want to do our own hosting at our house. (the company behind my amazing refrigerator i got earlier this year) asked if we’d want to host a holiday tasting party where we could invite friends to try out festive food and drinks in preparation for the season. the idea was that we’d share appetizers and drinks that people could taste and get inspired by for their own holiday cooking.

FAUX FUR / STYLED 29

there has been a long standing movement asking the fashion industry to move away from using real animal fur and to use faux fur instead. and with Gucci’s announcement that they will no longer be using real fur in any of their collections i think it’s safe to say that the movement is here to stay. and it’s a win for everyone! there are so many cute and more affordable faux fur options available this season than every before and here are a few of my favorites. i love the idea of buying a slightly over the top jacket and making it your statement coat to wear all fall and winter long over everything, day or night. – joanie

$120 – the different textures on this jacket make it a playful option for fall. fur can feel fancy but this feels laid back and cool.

$130 – i’m totally obsessed with this deep emerald green color and think this jacket would be so striking on.

$129 – a little leopard never hurt no body, or in this case a lot of leopard! this coat is a great length to pair with skinny jeans.

$168 – love that this a is a bomber style making it more cropped and fitted in the waist once zipped.

$70 – this ice blue color is such a pretty hue and perfect for winter.

$120 – this looks like the most cozy jacket and i’m always into cream for winter.

$248 – the two tone on this gives it a nice retro feel. it’s also cut to lay close to the body and not add a lot of extra bulk which makes it great as an evening option over a dress.

$100 – vibrant color, oversized style with cool zip details on the pocket.

$90 – this is the most similar to what would be a classic cropped mink coat. it’s a very sophisticated cut and i love the big cuffed sleeve. this one is easy to dress way up to something black tie or down with a pair of jeans.

NIGHT PALM

one evening i wandered in , the new(ish) silver lake boutique and fell in love immediately. filled with vintage treasures and cool brands, you wanna take your time looking at all the beautiful details…

i love that there is a variety of price points so it makes it fun to shop…instead of just wanting everything and having it be overpriced. it’s great for little gifts and will definitely make you want to redecorate a room or two in your home. (tiffany is actually going to help finish up my living room because i trust her so much after seeing their store!)

a husband and wife duo opened the shop. they’re so sweet, welcoming and talented. you can tell they put a lot of love into that place.

rugs, pillows, blankets, chairs, vases, paintings…definitely stop by and take a look!! and if you can’t make it, they have an online shop
