NEW YORK BLOGSHOP

our fall new york blogshop was held at the  studio again. we just couldn’t resist that pretty space again. let me just say, the decor and florals by  were incredible. they clearly went above and beyond what we asked for, and i could not stop smiling at what they created.

it was fern city up in there. plant life everywhere in an all-white space.

INSPIRED BY DIANA VREELAND

i watched the documentary about diana vreeland called . diana was the influential editor at Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue magazine and produced some of my absolute favorite fashion stories. (twiggy, cher, lauren bacall, audrey hepburn etc.) i was most inspired by her philosophy on the creative process. her artistic vision. her wild & unapologetic ideas. her desire to push the limits. her thrilling point of view on fashion and photography. i just know she put some ideas in my mind for the style column…

i loved this quote the most: “you’re not supposed to give people what they want, you’re supposed to give them what they don’t know they want yet.”

you just have to watch the trailer here…hopefully it inspires you as much as it did for me!

LAST STOP, VENICE, ITALY

venice02

we took the from rome (see that post here!) to our last stop, venice. the train took about 3.5 hours and cost us each around $150 for first class. we got to all sit together in seats that faced each other, drink mini champagnes and enjoy the scenery. so relaxing!

venice05
venice04

let me start off by saying that venice is definitely one of the most interesting places that i’ve ever traveled to. probably because everything was new and exciting. you load your luggage onto a boat and just take in this magical city. we were all pretty giddy at this point. you don’t really think about until you arrive how there really aren’t roads, just tiny little alleyways that you will get lost in, countless bridges and water around every turn. it was pretty unreal, really. much more of a wander and find a good spot sort of place…

venice06
venice07

definitely not the most luggage-friendly destination (lugging our bags over 3 bridges, cobblestone streets and up a flight of stairs.) but our apartment made it worth it. we rented this one from as well (you can ) the hosts gave us endless recommendations and tips.

talking to a local is so important, so you can get those silly questions out of the way. (what’s the tipping like here at restaurants? what about the public transportation? what time is best for dinner?) so many things are different over there! we stayed only a 5 minute walk from the  and i really liked our little area.

venice08

the home of two architects, everything had it’s place. they brought a lot of treasures back from their travels from asia. the kitchen was my favorite part…open, airy, beautiful lights, open shelving, two balconies looking over the canal. it was where we hung out the most.

hi everyone! i really enjoy putting together these travel posts for you…documenting some of my favorite restaurants, shops and must-see spots. this month, i visited stockholm for the first time and had such a wonderful experience. i have been dreaming of going there for years! scandinavian design is a true love of mine and now it is more than ever. follow this guide if you are planning a trip there. i was only there a few short days, but tried to pack in as much as i could!

first, lunch at . a hip spot with yellow stools, great atmosphere, and a fun menu. there’s also a fancier supermarket on the other side of the restaurant (similar to a dean & deluca in new york) i always think it’s cool seeing the food packaging in other countries. i am sure this would be a great spot just to grab a drink at the bar too!
