TUNIC LOVE

i’m sure i’m not the only one who saw the pictures of bri in peru and reallllly wanted the she was wearing. i’m a big fan of one sized tunics as they’re so simple to throw on and this one is beautifully hand printed, organic cotton and i can see it being worn all year round. on it’s own in the summer months, or with a big oversized cardigan during the cooler months. and it’s also nursing friendly for all the moms out there and although i’m not a mom, it feels like a really great piece to throw on when you don’t have a minute to get ready.

anyway, it’s from , a company i’ve heard of but had never purchased anything from, they are family owned, ethically run and they make really beautiful things. i went down a rabbit hole exploring their collection and ended up purchasing both the  above and this gorgeous t (you know i’m a sucker for anything purple). here are a few more favorites from their site. and i feel like i always say this but it isn’t sponsored, just wanting to share and support cool small companies that are focused on ethical practices and timeless pieces that you can keep forever. – joanie

few things more classic than a white top and jeans. love the feminine details , the swiss dot fabric and the elastic at the wrist, it’s so beautiful!

also really into the tiger tee and the tiger print kimono below.

lots of effortlessly cool pieces on their site! very drawn to the ease of the silhouettes, pieces that transcend trend and time which are the type of things i’m looking to invest in. i haven’t received my order yet but i’ll keep you post on my thoughts once it arrives!

IRELAND TRAVEL GUIDE!

Ireland travel guide | designlovefest

ok, i hope you save this post for travel tips because i SERIOUSLY recommend going to ireland. we both had never been and loved so much about it. the beautiful scenery, the people were so kind, the food and cocktails were great, the pubs were fun, and going in early november was perfect! we decided to pack a ton in and drive around a lot of the country so we could experience as much as possible in 4 days (which might have been extreme but i am still happy we did it because we saw so much)

we got to fly first class on which was a real treat! it was fun to start our Ireland experience as soon as we got on the plane in san francisco. all of the staff was really friendly and we were able to curl up in our seats and watch movies and drink wine and really relax before hitting the ground running. they’re a  with alaska air which means you can use your alaska miles to book a flight to ireland! they served us scones and tea and delicious food, it really was a fun flying experience, i’d recommend it!

FIRST STOP: DUBLIN

a lot of people told me dublin feels really touristy. i’m sure there are parts that do, but overall i loved the vibe there. it might have been because we went in the off season so it wasn’t quite as crowded. but the streets were decorated for christmas, and there were tons of little shops and restaurants to pop into. i will just call out our favorites in each stop so you can write them down. we were also pleasantly surprised at the quality of food you get for the price in ireland!

cute lunch at  for some stew and soda bread with butter (loved the bread everywhere we went)

we loved our dinner at . excellent wine, cozy atmosphere with a view, and delicious food!

cocktails at ! what a treat. they truly appreciate the art of the cocktail and it feels like you have stepped back in time. we went early and didn’t need a reservation.

we also loved our dinner at . the scallops, truffle fries with bacon, yummy flatbreads…also a great street to wander around and find bars that aren’t as touristy.

. does it get old when a bookshelf flies open when you press a picture? not really. we spent our last night in this cave drinking cocktails and listening to live music by candlelight.

DESIGNLOVEFEST LUGGAGE AT TARGET!

luggage launch | designlovefest

hi guys!! our second has launched just in time for the holidays. this time we focused on adding a lot more smaller items that would make great gifts (and so many adorable pieces under $20!)! a few of the items are selling out quickly but you can always shop online or check to see if your stores are carrying them!

this year we shot the luggage on a trip to PERU…

shop some of my favorites from the collection //

: i love the size of this bag, it’s so easy to travel with, feels secure and fits all your important things while you’re on the road. i like to pack this in my checked luggage and then use it once i’m at my destination.

: these are one of the top sellers so if you don’t see it available online, check your local store stock. they’ll be sold out soon. i wasn’t really a believer in packing cubes until i started designing luggage and now i realize just how handy they are.

: this is for so much more than cosmetics and i love to keep my receipts, travel documents, passport, etc in here and throw it into my carry on. it’s a great way to keep track of all of your small items that can fall to the bottom in a larger bag. make a really cute stocking stuff for christmas too!

: i’m still in shock that this handy little bag is only $8. they are so useful for everything from groceries, to bringing home souvenirs from your trip that can’t fit in your bag, etc. keep one in your car for last minute errands.

: it’s hard to tell the shade of green in the photos but it’s a really soft sage green that i love. it took many rounds of reviews to get the color perfect and i’m so glad we did. also, the rose gold handle is a favorite feature too!

: this little hip pack is a travel essential!  you can keep your money and passport close to your body while you travel and be hands free at the same time. a great christmas gift for the world traveler in your life!

in our last luggage line we offered a pink suitcase and this year we wanted a refresh the colors and also offer TWO roller colors. our best selling items are the and (perfect for long weekend trips!)

is actually one of my favorite additions in this collection and  it’s so easy to throw on when you want your arms free shopping at a market (or holding a cute baby lamb? haha)

another favorite is definitely the shopping tote. i love bringing bags like this

went through many many rounds of back and forth! i wanted something that was stylish and functional. this bag fits a whole lot and even has space on the sides for more. it was taken on a long hike to rainbow mountain, the salt flats and machu picchu!

CALIFORNIA OLIVE RANCH HARVEST TOUR!

california olive ranch | designlovefest
california olive ranch | designlovefest

we just took a quick trip to sacramento (i’ve never been, love how laid back it is there!) to visit during their annual harvest. i’m sure you’ve noticed their signature green oil bottle in many of our recipes posts, it’s been the only olive oil we use at our studio for years so we were excited when they asked us to join the trip.  i’ve been in total learning mode when it comes to food and i loved seeing the harvest in action.  their team really cares about the quality of their extra virgin olive oil and giving it to the consumer at an affordable price, and i loved spending time learning about their process and getting to know their small team.

we learned how to properly taste olive oil and got to taste many different varietals which was a really cool and new experience to me. we even did a blind tasting with a competitor oil currently on the market and saw an extreme difference between the two. it was actually pretty shocking when tasted side by side! olive oil can be the foundation of so many dishes, and the quality and taste is super important. i also go through so much oil with how much i cook so keeping it affordable is key.

we got to visit one of their fields during harvest and were able to ride on the harvester and watch the olives being picked off the trees and then got to see the olive oil being made from start to finish at the mill. i definitely felt more connected to the experience since i’ve been cooking so much and it feels good to dive deeper into the process! they also just launched their Destination Series which is extra virgin olive oil sourced from all over the world and brought back to california to their mill where they curate blends of the international growers oil mixed with the California oil. we got to try some of the blends and they were delicious!

i also love that it’s a california-based olive oil brand. when i travel to europe i’ve brought olive oil back at times because i really felt a big difference in the taste and quality and is bringing that to the states. they really don’t cut any corners when it comes to their product which is awesome.
