TUSCANY

i am posting a little out of order for my trip, but oh well! let’s start with tuscany…i took a plane into florence, took a shuttle bus about 5 minutes to the train station and there was a train to every 30 mins or so. it’s super easy to just buy a ticket at the machine in the station (don’t forget to validate it) and hop on the next train out. it took me about 40 minutes to get there…

HI FROM AMSTERDAM!

Processed with VSCOcam with a8 preset

hi there! i made it from tuscany > florence > to AMSTERDAM! and man is it cool here. we got a lucky day of sunshine before the clouds and rain (and king’s day craziness!) rolls in. i’ll be here for two weeks and i’m happy to have some of my LA friends visiting me here. i was missing home, so it’s good to have them by my side. i’ve been gone almost three weeks now and it feels like forever.

this trip is pretty sentimental for me. i set out to let go of some negative things that were happening in my life, and i can slowly feel them drifting away. i’ve seen so much already, talked to so many people, and just kicked all of those things out of my brain. and luckily i still have almost a month left to explore. to see more of the day to day activities.

in this pic above you can see me WAY up in the sky on these swings that were by far the highest swings i’ve ever been on. i’m not generally afraid of rides but these were insanely high up! it was terrifying and amazing all at once. i laughed and held on for dear life.

lastly, can i ask your advice? if you could recommend ONE thing/place in amsterdam, what would it be? have a great weekend! -bri

VISITING MARRAKECH

while i’m in italy, stephanie, one of our amazing DLF contributors, is in marrakech! i thought it would be cool if she reported back here with her cool tips…

“If Marrakech is on your destination list, make sure you drop by the . This cobalt blue oasis was designed by French artist, Jacques Majorelle. When Yves St-Laurent and Pierre Bergé came across this hidden gem, they decided to restore the garden and opened it to the public in 1947. Yves Saint-Laurent actually lived in that blue house and after he died, his ashes were scattered in the Majorelle Garden.

I arrived at the Majorelle garden bright and early, (it gets super crowded) and tried to capture all its beauty for you guys.

The vegetation is incredibly luscious! It’s a crazy mix of giant cacti, so many different succulents and palm trees, lots of tall bamboo plants and large pathways bordered by big colorful planters. Add huge stands of bougainvillea, a large a pond with water-lilies, an amazing blue house with bright yellow accents and there you are, in an exotic Yves Saint-Laurent dream.”
