a little update on what’s been going on around here…

work has been good lately. lots of different opportunities and jobs in the works. most of them require a lot of patience and waiting (which i wasn’t really born with ha). i’m also in the middle of planning a big photoshoot with jesse that has my mind occupied this week.

we did a little couples staycation at last night with my friends cammy and nick. we ate dinner next door at and it was deeeeelicious. if you go, get the crispy cauliflower and the tahini! then we had a glass of wine at bar covell and went to sleep at a reasonable hour after watching tv all together on the couch. it was very relaxing and felt like a fun romantic adventure. the design in that hotel is just insane!

i finally got around to passing the smog check on my vintage car and getting it all registered. it’s been so much driving it around town the past few weeks. i need to stop putting off tasks and just do them sooner! let’s just hope it doesn’t break down now.

speaking of tasks…i had an abnormal test come back from my gyno and i have to get another test to make sure it’s not cervical cancer. apparently the test is not uncommon but it still freaked me out a LOT and had me very upset. the test is in a few weeks and i am just hoping for the best.

justin moved in last weekend (so wild) it’s been three years since i’ve lived with someone so i’m sure there will be some adjustments (like how he called all my drinking glasses “design thimbles” haha!) …but mostly i’m very excited!! it feels so nice to have him around after work to share our days with each other over dinner. just simple things like that. the weather is really warm and perfect to eat out on the patio with music and wine. i’m definitely in my homebody phase!

i was shocked and thrilled to be included in the  in the home category! that felt like a big accomplishment when i woke up to the news.

but truly every week always has its ups and downs. i got the bad news about the gyno test, didn’t get a big job i was looking forward to, and got into an upsetting fight with a close friend all in the same week as these exciting things were happening. it’s always a mixture for all of us. but we can only do our best, right?

anyway, thanks for hearing my catch up. have a great rest of your week! are you doin anything fun this weekend?? xx – bri

Lovely pics, good luck with everything and hang in there! 🙂

    Lynne says:

Bri, don’t stress the gyno thing. I had that happen at least three different times at your age and it turned out normal every time. It’s not uncommon at all. Hang in there, it’s probably nothing.

    Chelsea says:

yes, same, same same. I go back every six months instead of annually, and if anything I can look at it as an extra source of protection, since my gyno and I are being so proactive about it. love to you as you wait, it’s always the hardest part.

    Hayley Bop says:

Same, same, same. I did the 6 month thing for a couple of years but now I’m back to completely normal. Keep your head up! My favorite doctor proscribed a glass of red wine for after the test. I highly recommend the same. To paraphrase, all adventurous women go through this 😉

    Manon B says:

congrats on both the moving in and the Forbes list ! and thank you for being honest about your ups and downs 🙂

    Becky W. says:

I had the same thing happen with the doctor. I thought I couldn’t have kids for about a month and it totally threw me for a loop. It turned out completely okay, but I let my mind run wild and it was awful. Hoping for the best!

    bri says:

that’s obv where my mind went too. 🙁 just want to get it over with!!

    Nikki says:

Congrats to you on the Forbes list, thats absolutely incredible! And thank you for sharing the other details of your life that aren’t always as “sparkly” , it makes you real ; )

    bri says:

of course, thanks for reading. and believe me, my life has many many not so sparkly moments. xo

    Mandy says:

What is up with the glasses?!?! My boyfriend just moved in and we had to buy big drinking glasses because mine were too small.

    bri says:

hahaha, i guess it’s a thing. he’s currently drinking out of a vase to prove a point 🙂

    Kenna says:

I had the same thing happen to me at the gyno at least two times. It’s stressful but I’m sure everything will be fine, sending positive thoughts your way. Xoxo

so hard not stress about the gyno thing – but it’s really common, as you see here in just the first few comments! and congrats on forbes, love seeing so many strong women on the list.

    Brandi says:

Sending love and good vibes. Your openness helps us all overcome our own battles ❤️

    Andrea says:

Thanks for sharing such a personal post. You know, Bri, life can be so complicated sometimes and yes, it’s always nerve wracking when anything ‘abnormal’ shows up In any health exam. After I had my second child, my body just hasn’t been the same and I’ve had to meet with my gyno along with my (now) pelvic floor therapist as a means to prevent any further damage etc. etc just this morning I was on my way to my appt and I thought, ‘what is going on? I am 30 years old and I am not having odd health issues…’ ugh but you know, you take it one day at a time and get the help/support and get better!
Congratulations on moving in with your BF. That is very exciting!
    Take care.. xx Andrea

    Aimee Page says:

    Carolyn says:

You go to the best hotels! That overnight trip sounds like a great escape (now I need to go check out their gallery online). Your man is a stud (congrats on the move-in), and hope its all good news from the doctor. xo

    Elizabeth says:

I’m a longtime lurker (I think six years now) and have never commented before but I have to say I soo appreciate (in addition to your gorgeous content) your honesty about anxieties, good stuff, bad stuff, scary stuff. I’m about the same age and your openness has been so refreshing, motivating, and reassuring as I’ve gone through my own rough patches. Congratulations on moving in (love how happy you look!) and good luck with the test–I’ve had several friends go through the same thing, always with positive results. <3

    bri says:

thanks so much for your sweet thoughtful comment and for following for so long! how things have changed from 6 years ago. wow.

    Christina says:

Hi Bri! I love your life updates you should do it more often! ALSO – I had an “abnormal” test a few years ago. And yes, I was totally freaked the F out. But, turned out to be totally common (as you can see in the comments above), and all my paps have since come back as normal SO. Just remember that 😉

    Terri K Schmitt says:

Not doing anything fun this weekend, but Momma loves you and am praying for your peace and a good report. xoxo

Love the real talk! Sending Light, grace and best wishes. Your sharing is Beautifully relatable. Thanks for taking a risk!

    Kristen says:

Thinking of you, Bri and appreciate the realness you share 🙂

    Lucy says:

Girl I had an abnormal test result a week before I moved to Ireland and I felt the exact same – kinda freaked out! Did not picture my first week to be figuring out a gyno abroad. What I did learn, is it can be for a thousand different reasons that most likely have nothing to do with an illness. So it’s more likely than not totally fine. Good luck sista!!

    Jennifer says:

Hi Bri – you always inspire me with your authenticity about whatever you are going thru…..life can be so crazy sometimes. I totally relate as I am having similar issues myself. I’m with you in spirit. You’ll be fine I’m sure. Whatever it is you will deal with it. So will I. 🌻

    Diane says:

Congratulation for the big step of moving in! Keep sharing!

I think that’s life! We all just ebb and flow with the good and bad. 🙂

    Kristin B says:

Big love to you and hoping for the best on your gyno test. As a few others above mentioned, I’m also currently sitting in the scary land of HSIL test results. I know it’s easy for someone else to swoop in and say everything will be okay, so I’ll say what I wish someone had told me when I got my first abnormal result: you’re doing the right thing, everyone is being pro-active about your health, and it’s under a watchful eye. Anything that, by some minute chance, could happen, will happen under careful, careful observation by your gyno and it’ll be seen before anything quote unquote bad can happen to you. You’ll be fine 🙂 I understand the scary feeling, so I’m virtually holding your hand while you’re there. xo

    bri says:

    so sweet, thank you!!

    Bethan says:

Thank you so much for sharing both the positive and negative things – really appreciate your integrity online, as it’s so easy to see a gorgeous insta feed and beautifully photographed recipes etc. and forget that everyone has ups and downs. Thank you 🙂

    Lee says:

you are so unbelievably inspiring. thank you for your personal insight.

    Staci says:

Wishing you all the best with your gyno thing. Thank you for sharing and for the beauty that is this blog – it’s definitely a positive thing in my week!
