studio gallery wall | designlovefest

we’ve finally made some serious progress on finishing the DLF studio and i’m excited to share the pictures with you! between traveling, moving into a new house and a bunch of client project we just haven’t had the time to finish decorating and it was driving me crazy. i feel like now that we have art on the walls, the end is in sight! i worked with one of my favorite companies,  (remember this post?), on creating this gallery wall above our coffee bar. i wanted it to be both beautiful and personal and decided to use my recent trip to japan as the content for the images and i really love how it turned out!

the best thing about is that you can upload photos directly from your /phone/computer and you can also mail things in and have them framed. i did a mix of images and actual pieces that i picked up in japan and the combination is really special. i think my favorite piece is the large image of the swan boats we rode in on our last day in tokyo (can’t believe iphone photos can be blown up this large). i also framed the business card of a restaurant we had dinner at which was one of the most memorable meals of my life. it’s a simple cream card, but set in the white mat with a wood frame (i picked the !), it looks super chic and adds a nice neutral to the mix. also, if you’re interested in doing your own gallery wall,  is giving my readers 20% off your first order with code designlovefest20!*

the tricky part about my studio is that it’s a large open space, with really high ceilings which is beautiful and great for shooting but can be difficult when it comes to something as precise as art. i chose a wall that is a focal point, it’s directly at the back of the studio and part of the sitting area. it’s also framed by our coffee bar which really helped in creating a base to build the gallery on. i wanted to make the images span the height of the wall instead of the width as there are windows on both sides. i laid everything out on the floor and then we taped off the sections on the wall with washi tape of where we wanted everything to hang.

and it turned out perfectly! i purchased two of the cotton candy prints below, one for the wall and one to gift to a friend as a momento from our time together in japan.

I love how everything turned out! Especially the swan photo. I was surprised recently as well at how much an iPhone photo can be blown up (I did a diptych here: )
