WE LOVE EMBROIDERY

it feels like there is so much interesting stuff happening with fashion these days. we were sort of in a 90’s minimal haze for awhile there which was great but i’m ready to bring back the colors and textures. one of the things i’m excited about is embroidery in all of its many forms – on jeans, dresses, patches, cross stitch, you name it.

this trend in particular is a great one to shop vintage or thrift. it hasn’t hit mainstream consumption yet so it will still be available and accessible on sites like ebay and etsy. when shopping second hand always be open to a little altering, scoring a great piece for very little money means that you can spend a bit on having the hem taken up or the legs tapered, etc. the end result will be something you paid less for and fits you perfectly. here are a few of our favorite vintage pieces from around the web – , , , , ,  and .

So glad that embroidery is coming back! I moved to Indonesia with only two suitcases so I had to be very selective when choosing a craft to bring. I chose embroidery because the supplies are small and the projects are handheld (also it’s hard to get behind a knitting project when it’s 85 degrees). I’ve been enjoying embroidering so much and not having other projects and supplies around has worked wonders for my focus.

    awesome that you did that!

I love the suzani shoes (and the whole embroidery trend in general) – they remind me of my parents, they have a very similar wall hanging back home.

I worked at The Gap in the early 2000’s and remember they got all these AWFUL embroidered jeans. Just like, the worst “mom” jeans ever- so when I initially read the caption I started to cringe but looks like if done right, embroidery on denim can be SO fun!
